Description

Enjoy healthy oven-baked turkey bacon without the mess of pan-frying. Whether you have a conventional, convection, or Miele combi-steam oven, this recipe delivers perfectly crispy strips in less than 30 minutes. Serve it for breakfast, on a salad, or enjoy it as a crunchy snack.

Ingredients

Scale

12 packages of organic turkey bacon (adjust quantity to suit your needs)

Instructions

Heat the Oven: Place an oven rack in the center of the oven and set the temperature.

  • Conventional Oven: Bake mode, 390º
  • Convection: Convection bake mode, 375º
  • Miele Combi-Steam Oven: Surround mode, 390º

Prep the Baking Sheet: Traditional ovens use a baking rack set on top of a rimmed baking sheet lined with foil for best results. Miele Combi-Steam Ovens should use the dark Miele baking tray. In either case, the rack should be in the center of the oven.

Prep the Turkey Bacon: While the oven heats, gently rinse the bacon strips in cold water and blot dry between layers of paper towels. Lay the strips on the baking rack (or Miele baking tray) and place the sheet in the center of the oven. The strips can touch but shouldn’t overlap.

Cook the Bacon: Bake until dark golden brown and crispy.

  • Conventional Oven: 20-25 minutes
  • Convection: 20 minutes
  • Miele Combi-Steam Oven: 15 minutes, then change the mode to browning and cook 5 more minutes

Optional Broiling: In a conventional or convection oven, broil on low for 60-90 seconds for extra crunch, but keep a close eye on the bacon to prevent burning.

Cool, Serve, and Store: Remove the bacon from the oven and let it cool to the touch, then serve. Wrap leftovers in a paper towel and refrigerate in a tightly sealed silicone pouch for up to 3 days.

Notes

Rinsing and drying the bacon helps them get nice and crispy so don’t skip this step.

Ovens vary so the timing may also vary slightly. The first time you make oven-baked turkey bacon, check it a few minutes early to prevent overcooking.
